The Guardian Lions
Ceramic Guardian Lions from Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, China. Referred to as China’s “porcelain capital,” Jingdezhen has been known as a place for high quality porcelain production since the Tang Dynasty (CE 618-917).
In Chinese beliefs, the Lions are the guardians of power and prosperity. They can counter dark power, dispense good fortune, help gain status and fame. They help protect and prevent bad spirit from entering the house, bring peace and happiness to the place, drive away demons.
